TT Electronics provide electronic services in a wide range of fields. They have clients in the transport, aerospace, defence, and medical sectors. They have offices around the globe.
Our client produces wiring looms and electronic equipment for the aerospace and military sectors. Each wiring loom is made up of components, wires, and sub-assemblies. Sub-assemblies are then made up of components, wires, and the occasional sub-assemblies.
Our client needed a way to manage the purchasing of supplies for the orders they received.
We developed a materials scheduling tool with two main functions.
The first section of the tool gathered a list of parts, wires, materials, and sub-assemblies from our client’s database. From this, the tool was able to build a complete bill of materials and cross reference them against existing stock levels.
This enabled the materials scheduling tool to calculate the materials that needed to be ordered to complete the order. This was then cross referenced against known lead times to produce an ordering schedule.
This was then converted into a quotation and delivery date for their client. If the client then gave the go ahead, the second section of the tool used this information to schedule the work through the factory.
Our easy to use and update tool had many benefits for our client
- Fully automated the production of quotes and estimated lead times.
- Eliminated their paper based quote system.
- Reduced the time needed to produce a quote.
- Improved the accuracy of the quotes.
- Automated the planning process.
